Blisters
Blisters are a very common foot ailment that can easily and
quickly be treated by the Podiatrist, David P. Rosenzweig,
DPM, PC
at either his Rye Brook (Westchester County), New York or
Greenwich, Connecticut office.
The most common causes of blisters include friction and
burns. Blisters are caused by friction from shoes or
clothing which rub repeatedly on the skin on the foot or
toes causing friction burns. As the outer layer of skin
separates from the inner layers the space between fills with
lymph fluid.
Blisters on the foot are caused by injury, allergic
reactions, or infections, which may include the following:
burns/scalds
sunburns
friction (from improper or poorly fitting shoe)
contact dermatitis
impetigo (a contagious infection of the skin)
viral infections (including chickenpox and herpes zoster)
Fracture Blisters

Two types of fracture blisters have been identified by
the medical community: clear fluid-filled and blood-filled.
The blood-filled blisters have been shown to have complete
separation of the dermis from the epidermis, whereas the
clear fluid-filled blisters demonstrate partial epidermal
separation of the epidermis from the underlying dermis.
Perioperative fracture treatment complicated by fracture
blisters is a serious problem and requires careful
treatment. Fracture blisters may appear as early as
six hours after injury or as late as three weeks after
trauma. David P. Rosenzweig, Board Certified in
Podiatric Surgery must identify those patients at risk
for developing fracture blisters and direct treatment toward
prevention.
To make an
appointment with the Podiatrist, David P. Rosenzweig, Board Certified in
Podiatric Surgery to eliminate your blisters or to
treat or diagnosis your fracture blisters, please contact
the Podiatrist at either his Rye Brook (Westchester County), New York or
Greenwich, Connecticut office. |
